What Will Your New Year’s Affirmation Be?
Posted by fitchick007
Congratulations, you’ve made it through another year!!! I know that I am grateful to be alive. I love life, I count my blessings and I thank God on a daily, sometimes even an hourly, basis.
Although I’m a positive and upbeat type of person I do have my “blah” moments and I have to constantly give myself positive reinforcement. I do this through a number of ways, one of which is to continuously repeat positive affirmations to myself.
Affirmations are statements or messages that we send to ourselves that, if repeated enough, over time our lives will improve and eventually change for the better. This occurs because your brain is being reprogrammed to think differently.
Positive affirmations don’t tell you that you’re not good enough, not smart enough, not pretty enough. Positive affirmations don’t tell you that you’ll never lose those last tens pounds, that you won’t be successful in your fitness competition that you’ve been training six months for, or that you don’t have what it takes to win first place. Positive affirmations help you to keep your chin up and believe in your mind and in your heart that you are smart, beautiful and capable of achieving anything you desire.
Everyday we are bombarded with negative messages whether it be from family members, co-workers or T.V. These negative messages become overwhelming and can have a negative affect on our health. When you’re not feeling good about yourself it’s rather difficult to maintain that mind, body and soul balance.
Affirming that you love yourself is probably one of the most powerful affirmations that you can make. Make 2013 your year. Make this the year to focus on you and to practice self-love. I know this is hard for most, especially women. We have the tendency to put our children, spouses, family and friends’ needs before our own. Practicing self-love means taking time for you and knowing that it’s ok. Taking time for you means doing something and spending your time the way you want to. Hit the gym, go to the spa, read a book or simply do nothing and be guilt free.
Positive affirmations can improve the quality of your life simply by changing your thoughts, which changes your attitude. If you need a reminder simply post positive affirmations where you’re likely to see them and watch your level of consciousness grow.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so he is”
Proverbs 23:7
Happy New Year. All the best 🙂
